[Guide] World Mode V2 & Upcoming Features
This guide is an update to the one previously posted on June 6 2022. Since then, World Mode has been expanded to feature recipes, which may be used to craft new items at the Blacksmith.
1. Introduction
Guild Saga is a free-to-play CRPG featuring turn-based tactical combat. Picture the large-scale exploration of Pillars of Eternity, married with the combat of Final Fantasy Tactics or Fire Emblem!
In Guild Saga, Heroes and Loot are both tokenized as NFTs, giving players true ownership of their in-game assets. Playing in most game modes will also allow users to earn on-chain currencies.
The game will feature multiple modes:
1) Story Mode : The main game mode which features a thoughtfully crafted narrative, rich world and story, and an immersive, customizable battle system
2) World Mode : A supplementary mode built on the Solana blockchain to provide token holders with passive earnings. Players are currently able to send their Hero NFTs on quests at the Heroes Guild (Section 3) and create items using recipes at the Blacksmith (Section 4). In future, holders can even create Mercenaries, manage their own Keeps, and more! (Section 5)
3) PVP Mode: Aa competitive mode where you can do battle with other players in ranked/ladder
4) Arena Mode : A thrilling roguelike-style endless dungeon; assemble a team of 10 and see how far you can go!
5) Unannounced New Mode: More information soon!
Guild Saga is currently in Closed Alpha, and features the first hour or so of story mode gameplay, over 50 fully animated starter skills, and fully functional quests, dialogue, and combat. If you have yet to do so, you may learn more about the game by browsing the website, reading the whitepaper, and joining our Discord.
2. Questing in World Mode
To begin questing in World Mode, you will require one or more Hero NFTs. If you would like to learn more about what Hero NFTs can do, especially outside of World Mode, please read our Hero NFT Guide here.
Available Now — Difficulty Quests
Holders are currently limited to quests at the Heroes Guild (5-day lockups). Each staked Hero NFT will accumulate $GGLD and $GGEM in varying amounts based on their hero rarity, as well as a chance to discover random loot (item NFTs, quality also dependent on hero rarity).
For a step-by-step guide to getting your heroes staked in World Mode, skip forward to section 3.
Coming Soon — Profession (or Occupation) Quests
In the next update, a new category of quests will be accessible from a second map and its new locations. These profession quests will require tools and other item NFTs (in addition to your Hero NFTs) to start, and will provide fixed material rewards, along with the usual $GGLD and $GGEM payout.
These quests will serve as a more reliable means of progression through crafting, allowing players to better plan for crafting certain items. Difficulty quests still provide better potential loot and higher $GGLD and $GGEM payouts for heroes of higher rarities, so you might want to send your rarer heroes to the guild instead.
Quest Rewards
Quests provide three different kinds of rewards—$GGLD, $GGEM, and loot (commonly referred to as item NFTs or simply items).
$GGLD is Guild Saga’s primary on-chain currency and will be used for many in-game functions such as buying items, learning skills, crafting, building and maintaining your Keep and Guild, etc.
All $GGLD earned in World Mode is currently locked and will begin vesting to owners once the game is at a reasonable stage of availability—with part of the main game being released to the public, and with multiple token sinks in place.

$GGEM is the game’s secondary on-chain currency, and is currently used in crafting, and will be used in summoning Mercenaries and refilling stamina in Arena mode. More details on these will be released at a later date.
Lastly, Heroes may find Item NFTs in their journey, including equipment pieces, skill books, potions, arrows, quest items, and more — most of which will interact in some meaningful way in the game’s modes. These items are already tradeable on the Soulofox marketplace, and will also be tradeable on our yet-to-be-released in-house marketplace (World Mode’s Town Square).

3. Staking your Hero NFTs
Below is a step-by-step guide to send your heroes on Difficulty Quests. To begin, access World Mode by heading over to world.guildsaga.com.
Step 1: Connect your Phantom Wallet
You will need to use a Phantom Wallet to participate in World Mode for now. If you use Solflare, you may simply load your seed/private key into Phantom and gain access to your wallet from there.
Click on “Connect Wallet” when you are ready, allow Phantom to connect when asked, then hit the “Play” button that appears afterwards.
Step 2: Enter the Heroes Guild (Quests)
At the northern region of Newacre lies the Heroes Guild and the “Quest” marker. Click on either, then on “Quest” again in the next screen to enter.
NOTE: If some elements are not showing or not functioning properly, check if you are using any firewalls or safety add-ons which may be blocking them.
Step 3: Initialize your Account
This step is a one-time process that will create a staking address for your heroes on quests. Click on “Confirm” and approve the transaction to proceed.
If you see a green loading circle for an extended time, check your wallet to see if the transaction is successful.
NOTE: This transaction might take somewhere upwards of 0.019 SOL to go through, so make sure you have enough in your wallet!
Step 4: Staking Your Hero(es)
This step takes your desired heroes and puts them in escrow, allowing them to go on quests. Click on the heroes you’d like to stake, then on the “Select Party” button and approve a transaction. (Currently, you will need to approve 1 transaction per hero.)
IMPORTANT: This step does NOT actually start a quest! You must complete Step 5 to begin earning loot!
Step 5: Starting a Quest
Ensure you have all the heroes you intend to quest with under the “Active Party” tab. You may need to refresh your browser to see them all.
IMPORTANT: You may only have one questing party at a time per wallet, so make doubly sure before you begin questing!
Once you are ready, hit “Start Quest” and approve the transaction. You’ll only need a single transaction to send all your heroes out. If this is successfully done, refresh your browser and you should see a timer counting down to their return.
Step 6: Collecting Rewards
Once your heroes are out, they begin accumulating rewards!
Hit on “Refresh” in the Rewards Tab to see how much $GGLD and $GGEM they’ve earned so far, and on “Claim Loot” to collect the $GGEM into your wallet.
Loot discovered by your heroes need not be claimed, and will be airdropped directly to your wallet during designated timings.
Step 7: Quest Again, or Return Your Heroes
After 5 days, your heroes return to your “Active Party”.
If, at this point, you would like to return one or more heroes to your wallet, click on “End Quest”, then select the desired hero(es), then click on “Return Heroes”.
To resend your heroes on a new quest, simply click on “Quest Again”.
Good luck with loot hunting!
4. Crafting
With the release of World Mode V2, crafting has now become available at the Blacksmith via the Anvil!
To craft an item, you will require:
A recipe (obtained through Heroes Guild quests and giveaways)
The right quantity of the items listed in that recipe
A small $GGEM fee
To view what is required to craft a specific recipe, click on it at the Anvil at the Blacksmith. If you’re interested in learning about a recipe you don’t own yet, you can search for it on our item database.
Step 1: Visit the Blacksmith
Once you’re ready with your recipe, ingredients, and $GGEM, head over to World Mode and click on Blacksmith, then on the Anvil to bring up the crafting UI.
Step 2: Click on your desired Recipe, then on “Add Ingredients”
A list of the recipes you own that are currently supported and available for crafting will appear as a list on the left side of the crafting UI. Click on the recipe you want to craft, and the materials that are required will appear on the right.
Clicking on “Add Ingredients” after to check if you have the required items to complete the craft.
Step 3: Review Ingredients and click “Craft”
If you’re able to fulfill the ingredient requirements, the numbers below each of their icons should turn green, and a $GGEM cost indicator should appear. If you’re sure you want to proceed, click on the “Craft” button.
Step 4: Approve the Transaction
Your wallet should now send you a request to approve, letting you know which tokens will be consumed. Once you’ve confirmed that everything’s correct, click on “Approve”.
Step 5: You’re done!
Click on your Inventory in World Mode, or check in your wallet under the collection “Guild Saga Loot”. Your new item should be available now! (If you don’t see it, refresh your browser)
5. Upcoming Features
There’s a lot more coming to World Mode this year! Here’s a preview of the next milestones below.
Coming Next: Cooking and Dismantling
In the next update, you’ll be able to cook food at a new location. Food items generally provide powerful or unique effects when consumed, and will give chef-enthusiasts an edge over those who simply buy their consumables from NPCs. Additionally, food items can be used in other ways when the game is released, so it might be wise to hang on to some ingredients for now!
Additionally, the Furnace at the Blacksmith will become unlocked, allowing you to break unwanted equipment pieces into materials to craft something more useful to you. Of course, breaking an item into salvage only returns a fraction of the materials that would’ve been required to craft it—so be sure to think things through before dropping the hammer!
The Update After: Profession Quests
Fishing, mining, and woodcutting are the first three professions to be added to World Mode! Obtain a basic tool through a simple quest (that requires only a single Hero NFT), start gathering materials, then upgrade your tools to unlock more quests!
(2023) Catacombs: Summon & Combine Mercenary NFTs
Mercenaries are a secondary collection of NFTs which can be bred using Hero NFTs in conjunction with a series of special “Catalyst” items. Mercenaries aim to provide additional utility to Hero NFT holders through:
Unlocking access to more types of quests in World Mode
Serving as party members in the PVE Gauntlet
Serving as limited party members in PVP Mode
Providing bonuses or unlocking features in your Keep (unreleased)
Notably, Mercenaries can not be imported into Story Mode the same way Hero NFTs can, and will also not provide any earnings boost.
(2023) Town Square: Our In-House Marketplace
With the introduction of the crafting program, trade has become increasingly necessary to craft specific items of higher rarity. Though we had not initially planned for an in-house marketplace (this early), it is now currently in the works and shouldn’t take a long time to complete.
The Town Square will also serve as a means of revenue generation and treasury accumulation through a 6% transaction fee; which we believe will be beneficial to the game’s ecosystem and its sustainability in the long run.
(2023) Visual + QOL Upgrades, Lore and NPCs
In addition to the main features, we’ll be looking to add some nice upgrades to World Mode this year, including many suggested by our community. There’s no exact plans or timelines for these, but they might make their way in alongside the major updates throughout the year!
